Music Licensing

All music broadcast on Stationaire is transmitted under a valid licence for Digital Audio Transmission in Canada, administered through SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) via our licensing partner:

What This Means

  • Stationaire holds an active licence to publicly perform and transmit recorded music online to listeners in Canada.
  • Royalties are paid to rights holders through SOCAN and its affiliated societies.
  • Artists and songwriters retain full copyright ownership of their work.
  • Listeners may stream music for personal, non-commercial use only.

Broadcaster Obligations

Broadcaster accounts on Stationaire must comply with all applicable copyright laws. When using the platform to stream audio you are responsible for ensuring your content falls within one of the following:

  • Music covered under the Streemlion/SOCAN licence (commercially released recordings).
  • Original content you own or have explicit permission to broadcast.
  • Content licensed under Creative Commons or similar open licences that permit public performance.

Stationaire is not responsible for copyright infringement arising from broadcaster-uploaded or broadcaster-selected content outside the scope of our licence.

SOCAN

SOCAN is Canada's performing rights organisation, collecting and distributing royalties on behalf of music creators and publishers. For more information visit socan.com.

Platform Software

The Stationaire platform software is proprietary. All rights reserved. The open-source libraries used to build Stationaire are subject to their respective licences.
